The Mercedes Benz M Class was launched in the year 1997 as a 1998 model and was a big hit in the US and Mexico. The model got used in a Hollywood movie- The Lost World: Jurassic Park- before the commercial launch and received immense popularity. That, in fact, contributed to the gala success of the mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV). This world acclaimed compact SUV had stepped in India in the year 2009 and brought same kind of success here as well. Influenced by the response from the Indian market, the German company has recently introduced Grand Sport Edition in India, it comes in two variants i.e. Mercedes Benz M Class Grand Sport Edition and Grand Executive Edition. The Mercedes Benz M Class debuted with a 3.0 litre, 2987cc, V6 powertrain that produces maximum power of 244 hp at 3800 rpm and delivers maximum torque of 510 Nm at 1600-2800 rpm with the help of 7-speed ‘7G-TRONIC’ Automatic Transmission. The mid-size sports utility vehicle comes loaded with standard 17 inch light weight alloy wheels and high profile tyres. The Mercedes Benz M Class has got dual circuit brakes coupled with Anti-lock braking system with brake assist. The car has been equipped with Airmatic suspension system; the front and rear suspension type are double wishbone /4 link.

The Mercedes Benz M Class sports all wheel drive system fitted in the 4MATIC is partnered by the ESP/4ETS electronic dynamic handling control system. The exterior look of the Mercedes Benz M Class matches to the SUV attributes and class apart styling. The front view of the SUV is dominated by upper radiator three horizontal chrome plated slats, centrally positioned Mercedes badge; smiling lower honeycomb grille, new darkened headlamps, day time running lamps, re-worked front apron with sump shield and solid front skid plates. The car has been provided with sweeping exterior mirrors in body colour, body colour door handles and waistline moulding. The rear side of the Mercedes Benz M Class is available with redesigned rear bumper, dual-flow exhaust system, wider rear wind shield and skid plate; Clear glass look tail lamp with LED technology are also available as option.

The interior of the Mercedes Benz M Class deserves special mention as it of the best quality and built with sound designing job. The dashboard of the vehicle looks amazing with fighter jet type instrument panel, AC vents and centre console features. It has been blessed with THERMATIC automatic climate control that enables constant climate in the cabin. You can also opt for THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control that permits individual temperature setting for all the occupants including driver. The interior of the M Class is of two tone that improves its ambiance; however, you can also get optional two colour leather upholstery. The interior upholstery choices are ARTICO man-made leather/Aspen fabric combination, ARTICO man-made leather, ARTICO man-made leather/Alcantara combination and leather or Nappa leather (standard in the ML 63 AMG). The Mercedes Benz M Class has electrically adjustable backrest and seat cushion angle in the back as well as the front seat. Manual adjustment can be done for head restraint and seat fore-and-aft.
