Renault along with its all new compact hatchback has revealed their intention of growing in India through small car Segment. Today Renault unveiled small compact car with elegant looks named KWID.
The vehicle is an A-segment hatchback which will likely be sold in international markets under the Dacia brand as well, just like the Duster. Renault says the Kwid features SUV styling and construction and combines “generous cabin space with unprecedented features for its segment.”
The Kwid features SUV characteristics such as the short front and rear overhangs and the high ground clearance (180mm or 7in).
The car is 3,68 meters (144.8in) long and 1.58 meters (62.2in) wide, making it ideal for use in the city. The structured grille design reminds of the Duster, while the headlights incorporate Renault’s new lighting signature including a C-shaped chrome trim. From the side, the car looks similar to the Sandero, while the rear has some Renault Captur influences.
Inside, the Kwid’s dashboard features digital instruments, chrome air vent surrounds and a centrally-positioned Media-Nav navigation/multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen display and Bluetooth connectivity. Renault says there’s plenty of room for five passengers and promises a very spacious boot with “best-in-class load capacity.”
The Kwid is the first Renault-Nissan Alliance model to use the all-new CMF-A platform, but the only information regarding powertrains is that it will be offered with a 0.8-liter petrol unit mated to a five-speed manual in India. The model will launch in India in the second half of 2015 with a price tag of between 3 and 4 lakhs.
