New Wonder from BMW – i8

bmw i8

A sports car at first sight. Extremely low and wide when viewed from the front, a flat silhouette, powerfully shaped surfaces and precise contours. When viewed more closely, an ingenious new vehicle concept. With a design devoted to one function. Sustainability and efficiency meet dynamics and athleticism. On the road, the BMW i8 demonstrates the interplay of these ideals: hugging the ground and in the unrivalled form you expect of a BMW.

Design philosophy.

The entire shape and form of the BMW i8 follows the BMW i8 design philosophy, which creates a unique connection between ground-breaking sustainability and premium character. The approach includes the so-called black belt. This unmistakeable black design element runs from the front, over the roof, to the rear in all BMW i models. Also typical of BMW i are the dynamic stream-flow design, the Air Curtains and striking details such as the LED Daytime Running Light in a distinctive U-shape and the LED rear lights. In the interior, the BMW i design philosophy is demonstrated in the selected use of sustainably produced lightweight materials. Wherever possible, there is systematic use of components produced from renewable raw materials.

Long wheelbase, short overhangs, a solid stance as it crouches on the street: the BMW i8 has all the characteristics of a full-blooded sports car. The front appears extremely low and wide. Everything is arranged to be optimally aerodynamic. At the same time, the flat, but prominent double kidney grille reveals the BMW genes. A V-shaped ‘black belt’ starts on the bonnet and dynamically wraps around the bodyshell to the rear.

Viewed from the side, the exaggerated wedge shape, the long drawn-out lines and the flat silhouette underscore the dynamics. Layering design, a method in which surfaces and lines overlap and interweave, produces an extremely sporty appearance all round. The surfaces join harmoniously, creating a compact and agile impression. Everything appears to come from a unified whole – thus lending the BMW i8 an extraordinarily powerful stature.

LED light design with laser light.

Standard in the BMW i8, LED headlights fit in perfectly with the exceptional sports car concept. All lighting elements are completely in LED. The front light has a typical BMW i U-shaped frame, which contains the Daytime Running Lights and a built-in indicator. A second broad frame is added as a distinguishing design feature when the optional high-beam headlights with laser light technology* are selected. The model with laser technology also considerably increases the range of the high beam and enhances its illumination. A passively lit blue band signals the innovative technology of the lighting unit. In addition, the side cover of the headlight in the equipment with laser light is not dark but has a brilliant metallic finish. The overall impression of the light concept is unmistakeably BMW i8.

Off to a swinging start: Thanks to the spectacular scissor doors, the sports car character of the BMW i8 is recognisable in an instant. Swinging upwards when opened, the scissor doors are an optical highlight and blend perfectly into the smooth lines of the aerodynamic bodyshell. When viewed from the inside, the doors underline the sporty nature of the interior. Thanks to the aluminium, carbon and thermoplastic used in their construction, they are approximately 50% lighter than conventionally built doors. As a result, they are particularly convenient to open and close from the inside. The handle is ergonomically positioned on the inside of the door panel and also acts as a decorative feature.

The sporty look of the exterior is continued seamlessly in the interior of the BMW i8. All elements are light and dynamically positioned. In the interior, the layering principle creates a novel relationship between functionality and clear form. Lightweight construction is also implemented visually; for example, the visible carbon elements in the door sill highlight the low weight of the BMW i8.

The classic sports car character and the typical BMW driver orientation are both equally prominent in the design. The centre console is aligned towards the driver. All the instruments and the digital instrument panel with its two large displays are easy to operate. All passengers have a low seating position and the narrow lightweight seats provide reliable support and outstanding of comfort even when cornering rapidly. The iDrive Controller is conveniently located on the centre console that optically bisects the vehicle.

  • Colour and material design underscores the guiding idea of a smart, sustainable sports car concept. The selected use of materials such as extra-lightweight plastic from recycled drinks bottles and other resource-saving elements allow sustainability to make its presence felt. At the same time, the interior exudes modern sportiness and premium character in every detail, an aspect which is clearly reflected in all three interior design concepts.

  • With the special equipment option of ambient lighting, drivers are able to create their own individual mood lighting for the interior of the BMW i8. The lighting designed in LED technology emphasises the luxurious ambience, also acts as a functional light source and can, if required, alternate between EfficientDynamics Blue, Amber and White. The result is an interior with a special glowing effect, which extends from the contour lines of the doors, the instrument panel and steering wheel to the footwell.

Interior designs

Unmistakeable, sporty, modern and sustainable. The guiding idea behind the sports car of the future is also reflected in the design of colours and materials in the interior. HALO, CARPO and NESO provide a choice of high-quality equipment lines. And all three demonstrate that sustainability and premium quality are by no means mutually exclusive – but, instead, harmonise in a manner that bodes well for the future. Best examples of this are the use of lightweight, recycled materials for the interior and leather that has been gently tanned with olive leaf extract.

BMW i5

In 2017, BMW will launch their third electric-vehicle nurtured by the BMW i sub-brand. The long-time rumored BMW i5 is already way into development as somewhat confirmed in a previous article by Jacob Harb, the Head of EV Operations in US.

“You can probably take an educated guess at the next thought process, something a little bigger, maybe a little more range, relative to the i3. We’ve got everything trademarked and we’re exploring the best, next iteration. It is coming. It’s in development now.”

The i5 will bring about much-needed economies of scale to help reduce the cost of batteries and electric modules, as well as the carbon-fiber components needed to trim weight to acceptable levels. It will be sold in the most important global markets, at a price competitive with the entry-level versions of the Tesla Model S, which the i5 will aim to trump in telematics and assistance systems, as well as general fit and finish.
The new midsize BMW i5 will cater to a slightly different demographic than the i3. It will be an eco-friendly electric family vehicle with plenty of space for five passengers, equipped with regular front-hinged rear doors to facilitate easy ingress and egress for the rear passengers.
2017 BMW i5 Rendering
Power will come from BMW’s permanent-magnet AC synchronous electric motor, likely to be rated at 170 horsepower, which will power the rear axle through a single-speed transmission. The i5 will be offered with an optional range-extender, possibly a 1.5-liter three-cylinder from BMW’s new, modular engine family. The aforementioned lithium-ion battery pack would be positioned in the center of the vehicle.
BMW engineers think that by adding just 100mm of extra legroom and another 150mm of rear overhang, they can create a spacious family EV hardly longer than a MINI Countryman.
Creating the i5 is potentially a much cheaper and simpler operation than stretching a conventional steel monocoque car, as the i3 uses a separate chassis. Lengthening it is mostly a matter of extending the chassis’s longitudinal aluminum extrusions. Also extending the pillarless passenger cell is mainly a case of stretching the roof and floor sections. Only the rear door structure would have to be completely re-engineered, although the hinge and clamp systems would be unchanged.
The battery technology will also be improved, a larger lithium ion battery pack  than in the i3 which could lead to a driving range close to 200 miles.

Car and Driver says that the BMW i5 will be sold in the most important global markets, at a price competitive with the entry-level versions of the Tesla Model S, which the i5 will aim to trump in telematics and assistance systems, as well as general fit and finish.

Tesla Design Chief: “BMW i3 is like an IKEA piece of furniture”

Power will come from BMW’s permanent-magnet AC synchronous electric motor, likely to be rated at 170 horsepower, which will power the rear axle through a single-speed transmission.
Just like the i3, an REx (Range Extender) model will be offered as well.
The BMW i5 could be launched in 2016 as a 2017 model. It will cost around $50,000.

The 7-Series is BMW’s flagship luxury sedan, offered in regular and extended wheelbase versions, powered by either a 4.8-liter V8 engine or a 6.0-liter V12 engine. New styling and new features including iDrive, making it very high-tech vehicle. All vehicles in the 7 Series have dynamic stability control, anti-lock brakes, dynamic traction control, and dynamic brake control. Safety systems are deployed via an Intelligent Safety and Information System and include dual front-impact airbags and supplementary bags.

BMW 7 Series Description

The car has a good amount of features that were ahead of its time and still turns heads. Throw some accessories like clear corners, and diffrent tailight options for a look of your choice. And to make it really stand out at add some wheels and you got yourself a car that will definatley put alot of newer cars to shame. This car is a luxury cruiser not a race car so if you are looking for something like that then go the other way. If you are worried about matinance and upkeep on the car get one with lower miles and one that comes with records. And get a pre-inspection from your mechanic of choice it can save you a heartache. Even if the miles are kinda high as long as its been taken care of and up on routine or regular matenance and the suspension addressed the car can last you a long time. An expanded 123.1 inch wheelbase on the 750Li equates to additional leg room in the already luxurious interior. The front seats have 20-way power adjust. The leather, power tilt/telescopic steering wheel offers both audio and phone controls (with one programmable control.) The 760Li features Ash wood interior and premium leather trim. Both rear climate control and a coolbox are among the available amenities. (Estimated fuel economy is 14/22.)

THE BMW 520i

The BMW 5 Series was completely redesigned for 2011. Unlike past versions, only a sedan is available, as the wagon has been replaced in North America by the 5 Series GT (discussed in a separate review).
The base 528i features a 3.0-liter inline-6 good for 240 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque. Stepping up to the 535i gets you a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that produces 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque — this is definitely the just-right choice for most. Finally, the 550i has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Each model comes standard with rear-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. An eight-speed automatic is optional and all-wheel drive should be a late-model-year introduction.
The 5 Series is better equipped than previous generations, with standard features that include a sunroof, power seats, a power tilt-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth and a 12-speaker sound system. Typical luxury upgrades (depending on the model) include adaptive xenon headlights, parking sensors, navigation, night-vision camera, active cruise control, an automatic parallel parking system, ventilated front seats and heavenly 14-way “multicontour” front seats.
Compared to the previous-generation 5, the current car returns to a more conservative appearance, one that shows a stronger family resemblance to other BMW sedans. It is also bigger and heavier, while mechanically sharing much with the 7 Series. Interior controls and electronics were also upgraded to the latest BMW norm, and the design itself returned to a more driver-centered dash layout. In many ways, the latest 5 Series represents a visual return to the past while carrying on the technological advancements of the present and future.
Indeed, those technological advancements can best be seen under the hood, where turbocharging has yielded impressive gains in fuel economy. The new electric power steering is about on par with the old system in terms of feel, but low-speed effort has been greatly improved. Active rear-wheel-steering is also new to the 5. In total, the 5 Series remains one of the most confidence-inspiring and unflappable midsize sport sedans you can drive and buy.

BMW has long offered fine driving cars for every luxury budget, though most have been high on door count. The BMW 6 Series coupe and convertible are for those seeking Bimmer performance with two-door style in a high-end package that’s a bit more extravagant than the company’s other offerings.
When reborn in the mid 2000s, the 6 Series featured a controversial, avant garde design, along with agile handling, a composed ride, strong engines and a well-crafted cabin. The current car now boasts more traditional styling and slightly beefed-up proportions, but its many dynamic virtues have largely been maintained or enhanced.
Be it new or used, the BMW 6 Series coupe and convertible are among the more interesting luxury two-doors on the market. They have faults, to be sure, and several very compelling competitors are definitely worth consideration, but then having to decide between high-end luxury coupes and convertibles is hardly a situation where you can really go wrong.Current BMW 6 Series
The current BMW 6 Series was completely redesigned for 2012. An all-new, aluminum-intensive structure based on that of BMW’s 5 and 7 Series sedans lends greater structural rigidity and keeps weight down. It keeps it light, but not svelte, as this new 6 Series also grew in size. The biggest changes are to the styling (which is toned down to be less adventurous) and to the engines. The new twin-turbo V8 is now almost as quick as the old V10-powered M6.
As before, the 6 Series is available as a coupe and soft-top convertible in a single trim level known as the 650i. The convertible is significant for its clever soft-top roof design, which features a separately controlled rear window. Lower it with the roof up for added ventilation, or raise it with the roof down for use a wind deflector.
Under the hood is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Every 6 Series is rear-wheel drive and comes standard with an eight-speed automatic, though a six-speed manual is still available.
Behind the wheel, no one will mistake the 2012 BMW 650i for a 3 Series. The 650i makes few sporting pretensions, and while we wouldn’t call it athletic, it’s also not at all wayward or uncoordinated. We frankly prefer the old car’s hydraulic power steering to the new 6’s electric setup, but it’s still precise enough to make the big 6 Series feel reasonably spry.
Despite its increased size, the 6 Series is really best suited for two front passengers. The rear is more welcoming than the cramped confines of Jaguar’s XK, but adults will only tolerate being cooped up in back for short trips. On the plus side, however, those up front will be treated to first-class accommodations with top-notch materials and high-tech gizmos aplenty. Furthermore, the trunk is absolutely huge for a sport coupe at 12.3 cubic feet. Even the convertible’s trunk is a decently sized 10.6 cubic feet with the top lowered. By comparison, retractable-hardtop convertibles can barely fit a pizza box with their roofs stowed away.
In total, the BMW 6 Series is a compelling luxury car that’ll make the daily slog or a road trip far more elegant and memorable.

Used BMW 6 Series Models
The previous, second-generation BMW 6 Series coupe and convertible was produced from 2004-’10. It was a bit smaller than the current car and featured more avant garde styling.
Originally, this 6 Series came equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 rated at 325 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque and was known as the 645Ci. For 2006, the name changed to 650i (minus the “C”) and its engine was updated to a 4.8-liter V8 that produced 360 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque. Driving characteristics between the 645Ci and 650i are very similar: The smaller V8 shared the 4.8-liter’s athletic character but had a slightly less vigorous power band. If you find a well-kept 645Ci on the used market, you won’t find it lacking from a performance standpoint.
Prior to 2008, there were three six-speed transmissions available: a traditional manual, a traditional automatic and BMW’s SMG, which used an electronically controlled clutch to provide both the responsiveness of a manual and the forget-about-it friendliness of an automatic. Sounds good, but in reality, we’d steer clear of this transmission, as its herky-jerky performance makes everyday driving a pain in the neck. Most 6 Series from this time were equipped with the traditional automatic, but it didn’t become standard until 2010. The manual became an option at that point.
In reviews of this BMW 6 Series, we found that the ride was supple and quiet, the brakes were powerful, and despite nearly 2 tons of weight, handling limits remained high thanks to aggressive tires and a well-balanced rear-drive chassis. However, the 6 Series experience largely depended on how you chose to equip the car. Adding the Sport package firmed up the ride and increased cornering grip via a set of 19-inch wheels and tires, while the variable-ratio active steering quickened low-speed turning response.
As with any luxury touring coupe or convertible, the specific mission of this BMW 6 Series was to cover lots of road in a hurry while making its occupants look and feel great — the front ones, anyway. Unfortunately, the 6 Series offered precious little of the rear seat space found in its contemporary 5 Series sedan counterpart despite similar midsize dimensions. The 6’s swoopier body lines were the reason for this, but even with the heightened focus on appearances, neither the 650i coupe nor the convertible could be considered the pinnacle of style.
Buyers of a used 6 Series should note that beyond the powertrain changes, in-car electronics were also upgraded over the years. Early models feature older versions of BMW’s iDrive system, which was still in its nascent stages and quite frustrating to use. Gradual improvements were made, but it wasn’t until 2010 that the system became fully worthwhile.
Not counting the BMW 8 Series of 1990s vintage, the only true predecessor to BMW’s big coupe is the 6 Series that spanned from 1977-’89. All models used an inline six-cylinder engine ranging from 3.2 to 3.5 liters, tuned to varying degrees of power. Even the most potent version could only accelerate to 60 mph in the low 6-second range and grip the road in the upper 0.70g range — modest by today’s standards — while the car’s semi-trailing arm rear suspension never did the best job of keeping the car planted to the road. Still, it was an engaging car to drive in its day and, for that reason, the original BMW 6 Series coupe retains an important place in BMW history.

The pickup and acceleration of the car is close to perfect and makes sure that passengers have a smooth and non bumpy ride. Mini Cooper comes with 15 inch alloy wheels while Mini Cooper S has conical spoke 16 inch alloy wheels. The wheels are strong as well as light and are perfectly attuned to Mini’s character. Mini Cooper Braking & Handling

The Mini Cooper hatchbacks have intelligent suspension system that gives a smooth and bump-free ride. With the multilink rear axle, each wheel can react independently, suggesting that an uneven road doesn’t affect the entire chassis and that the overall drive experience remains as relaxed as ever. Even more safety is provided by the single-link spring-strut front suspension and symmetrical, equal-length drive shafts. Excellent braking system in ensured by front and rear disc brakes. Now, this is known worldwide that disc brakes are more efficient in stopping the vehicle immediately rather than drum brakes. On top of it Anti-Lock Braking System along with Cornering Brake Control (CBC) enhances braking efficiency. EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) balances brake force between front and rear axle. Brake assist on the other hand boosts up the process of braking enabling maximum braking pressure and thus minimum braking distance. Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) recognises when the wheel slip is too high on the inside wheel during cornering and applies braking force for optimum handling on bends and different road surfaces. During normal braking, the brake lights light up across their entire surface and during emergency braking, they start to flash. This allows vehicles behind to distinguish between gentle and full-on braking. The automatically activated hazard warning lights then help to defuse the critical situation.

Mini Cooper Handling & Safety

Mini hatchbacks act as your bodyguard when you are in it. Mini Cooper hatchback safety is ensured by rigid chassis body. The rigid collapsible steering column also provides protection during impact. Its varied sensors are enough to recognize threats beforehand. During a crash, a host of active and passive safety features stand at their heels. Automatic Stability Control along with Traction Control prevents the front wheels from spinning, thus guaranteeing ideal starting conditions and plenty of traction. ABS, EBD, CBC and Brake Assist are active safety features stuffed in Mini hatchbacks. Apart from them, Dynamic Stability Control prevents unstable driving situations by intervening in the engine management and, if necessary, by applying braking force to individual wheels at the front or rear. DSC also includes Hill assist function.  Dynamic Traction Control lets the driver actively make use of the self-steering properties of the MINI. Mini hatchbacks have commendable lighting system with optimum light on straights and bends-thanks to the optional bi-xenon headlights which adapt to the direction of the road. Most importantly, passive safety is given by six airbags that protect the head and upper body during a head-on collision. Side and head airbags reduce the risk of injuries to the head, chest and pelvic regions during side-on impact.
