Most Awaited Cars In India 2016

India is one of the fastest growing automotive hub across the globe , launching 100’s of new models every year. 2015 was dominated with launches like Mahindra TUV 300 , Hyundai Creta , Maruti Suzuki Baleno , Honda City Diesel , Honda Mobilio , Renault KWID. Similar kind of lined of big launches is expected in upcoming year. Few of the most awaited launches for upcoming year are

    1.)                              Audi Q7

Audi Q7

The newest iteration of the Audi Q7 luxury SUV should make its way into Indian markets sometime at the end of this year. The German manufacturer put its gargantuan offering on a heavy diet to improve performance and managed to shed a whopping 325kg by the clever use of weight saving measures one of which was the use of aluminium and ultra-high strength steel in the Audi Q7’s chassis. The flagship Audi SUV will be available in both diesel and petrol with a diesel plug-in hybrid in the offing as well. All engine types will be available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro system as standard.

In terms of design, the new Audi Q7 is a lot more angular with sharp lines replacing the soft curves of its predecessors. It also features a new front grille, rectangular exhausts, and a redesigned minimalist-themed cabin.

2. )                Volkswagen Beetle

2015 Volkswagen Beetle

The Volkswagen Beetle is one of the most recognizable designs in automotive history ever since production began in 1938. It started off as an affordable and bare basic mode of transport but eventually evolved into a hot-hatchback, packed to the brim with features and new technology. The second generation Beetle was launched in India in 2009 but was greeted with muted success owing to its high price tag. However considering the sudden flurry of people opting to spend big on hot-hatches, Volkswagen will be hoping to ensnare a portion of that market with the imminent launch of the third generation Beetle.

The new Volkswagen Beetle features a longer bonnet, newly designed head-lamps with LED DRLs, and is lower than its predecessor which gives it a sportier look. Expect it to directly compete against the Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper.

Expected Price: 20 lakh – 25 lakh

3.)            Mahindra S101 Mini SUV


The home-grown automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra, is currently working on a range of new products for India which includes three compact SUVs and an MPV. The one we are talking about is the mini SUV –S101 (code-name) – that will take on the Ford EcoSport and other upcoming sub-compact SUVs. The S101 will be built upon a new monocoque platform which will also be used for other upcoming Mahindra vehicles. Since it will be an entry-level SUV, the S101 will be a sub-4 metre vehicle. Powering the vehicle could be the same 1.5-litre, three-cylinder engine that does duty to the Quanto.

Expected Launch: Festive Season

Expected Price: 4.5 lakh – 6 lakh

Engine: 1.2-litre diesel & 1.2 -litre Gasoline

4. )                        Skoda Superb

2015 Skoda Superb

Czech carmaker Skoda is all set to bring the new-look Superb to Indian shores. Updated features include Skoda’s new look butterfly grille, a more angular design language, sharp crystalline shaped head-lamps with DRLs, and LED tail-lamps. The cabin has been worked on as well with the addition of an improved audio system, high-quality plastics and more interior space thanks to its 28mm longer wheelbase.

The new Skoda Superb is based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform resulting in the car weighing 75kg less than its predecessor. Visibly, the car takes a bunch of design cues from the Skoda Vision C concept which was showcased at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The Superb will be available in both petrol and diesel with 3 different gearbox options (depending on engine choice) including two automatics and one manual.

Expected Launch: Mid 2016

Expected Price: 24 lakh – 29 lakh

5. )                              Tata Zica 


Tata is in no mood to leave any stones upturned in a bid to reclaim its position in the market. In the last year or so, Tata brought the Zest and Bolt, and it’s now planning to launch a small hatchback and an affordable sub-compact sedan. Codenamed as the Kite hatchback and Kite sedan, the new cars will replace the Indica eV2 and Indigo eCS respectively in the Indian market. Since both the vehicles are already on test in India, expect them to be launched come in the next couple of months.
Powering the Tata Kite twins will be a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine. While the 1.2-litre petrol unit will be an all new engine, the 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder mill will be a downsized version of Tata’s 1.4-litre DiCOR diesel engine.

Expected Launch: End 2015 or Early 2016

Expected Price: Zica Hatchback – 2.5 lakh – 4 lakh;  Zica sedan – 3 lakh – 4.5 lakh

Engine options: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.05-litre diesel

6. )      Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

2015 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

Following its resounding international success, Tata Motors owned Land Rover is preparing to launch the face-lifted version of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque in India by 19 November, 2015. Updates include a redesigned front bumper with big air-scoops, LED head-lamps, all new alloy design, better seats and an improved multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen display.

On the technology front, the new Range Rover Evoque has been fitted with the All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) System borrowed from its bigger Range Rover cousins and a newly developed Ingenium TD4 engine which weighs 20-30kg lesser than the outgoing model. A turbocharged Si4 petrol unit will also be available. It also features a lane-driving assistant, an autonomous emergency braking system and a system to detect and prevent driver drowsiness.

Expected Launch: 19 November, 2015

Expected Price: 50 lakh – 75 lakh

7.)                  Ford Endeavour

New Ford Endeavour

Unveiled earlier this year, the new-generation Ford Endeavour will go on sale in several markets this year including India. The new model will be based on Ford‘s Edge design philosophy and will be more upmarket than its predecessor. In order to improve the vehicle’s off-roading capabilities, the company has built it on a new ladder frame chassis.

While the global model of the vehicle will be offered with two engine options, a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel and a 3.2-litre, 5-cylinder diesel unit, the Indian model might continue to feature the existing 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre diesel units.

Expected Launch: November, 2015

Expected Price: 22 lakh – 28 lakh

8. )                        Toyota Innova

2016 Toyota Innova

The 2016 Indian Auto Expo will see the launch of the long awaited new-look Toyota Innova. The updated model is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform and is lighter than the outgoing version.

The new Toyota Innova features a completely re-done front end with swept back head-lamps, a new front grille, LED DRLs and new fog-lamps while the rear end gets a new bumper along with updated tail-lamp clusters.

Inside the cabin, the new Toyota Innova will include a host of bells and whistles including an intelligent touchscreen multimedia system with inbuilt navigation. Power will be provided either by a 2.0-litre petrol or a newly developed 2.4-litre diesel engine unit which put out 137bhp and 147bhp respectively. Transmission is provided by a manual gearbox for both engines with a 6-speed automatic gearbox available on diesel variants.

9. )          Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Diesel

Maruti Alto 800 diesel

After the launch of its Celerio diesel hatchback, Maruti Suzuki India is planning to bring in the diesel version of its top-seller Alto 800 as well. Set to launch by the end of this calendar year, the Maruti Alto 800 diesel will become the country’s most affordable diesel car. It will feature the same 793cc, two-cylinder diesel units that is good for 47bhp and 125Nm. While the Celerio diesel is claimed to return around 27.62km/l of mileage, the Maruti Alto 800 might return even better mileage thanks to its lighter weight.

Expected Launch: December, 2015

Expected Price: Around 4 lakh

10.)                         Honda BR-V

Honda BR-V

Japanese manufacturing giant Honda is ready to enter the red-hot compact SUV segment in India by confirming that the Honda BR-V will indeed be launched sometime in 2016. The BR-V’s form is visibly based on the extended Brio platform and features multiple design elements borrowed from Honda’s current range of vehicles such as the Mobilio, Jazz and City. Capable of seating 7, the compact SUV will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.

The Honda BR-V is expected to be powered by the same set of engines that drive other Honda offerings like the City and Jazz. Engine options should include a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic transmission box. We expect it to be launched at or around the time of the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
